The new proposal for the Museo de Alcalá de Guadaíra transforms both its architecture and museography to create a vibrant cultural hub for the city.
A redesigned esplanade and stair-amphitheater open the museum to the community, while a glass entrance volume connects the original building with a modern extension. The extension hosts rotating pop-up exhibitions and Tiempo de Paisajes, a permanent display dedicated to the landscapes of the region.
Inside the historic building, galleries are reconfigured into open, fluid spaces. The permanent exhibition on the history of Alcalá combines a continuous archaeological showcase with interactive experiences, including a tactile table of replicas, a time-traveling interactive map, and a digital window into the city’s landmarks. Together, these elements weave past and present into a living narrative, blending tradition with innovation for a truly participatory visitor experience.
