Istanbul City Museum - Opening Concept

At its heart stands a monumental central table displaying models, drawings, renderings, and authentic objects — offering a glimpse into the museum’s vision.

Three vast semi-transparent projection screens surround the space, unfolding five chapters of Istanbul’s story: from the creation of the Bosphorus and the glory of Constantinople, to the conquest of the city, its rise as a global power, and a poetic vision of its future. For twelve minutes, sound, light, and moving imagery immerse the audience: Roman horses race, Ottoman processions unfold, crowds with Turkish flags surge forward, and digital particles shape the skyline of the modern metropolis.

As the spectacle fades, theatrical lighting reveals the industrial structure of the venue itself, inviting visitors to explore the central presentation. The cycle repeats every 30 minutes, ensuring that all guests can embark on this captivating journey through Istanbul’s past, present, and future.
