Bosphorus Gate

Istanbul, Turkiye

The Bosphorus Gate is envisioned as a landmark cultural destination on the Kuruçeşme shoreline, uniting art, nature, and architecture on one of Istanbul’s most iconic waterfronts.

Bosphorus Gate

At its heart stands a transparent Gate structure, connected to the city by an elegant bridge. The Gate houses a panoramic viewing terrace and a versatile covered plaza below, designed to host exhibitions, openings, and concerts. Its vertical cores integrate elevators, staircases, a cafeteria, and offices, blending functionality with striking design.

From the street down to the water’s edge, a sequence of landscaped platforms creates a gentle descent, hosting permanent outdoor displays from the Sabancı Collection, a recreational playground, and an open-air café. At the shore, a new jetty and a protective seawall anchor the project while connecting it to the Bosphorus. Beneath the platforms, discreetly integrated spaces provide parking, storage, technical facilities, and access to preserved archaeological remains.

The Bosphorus Gate offers a harmonious dialogue between Istanbul’s heritage and its future, transforming the shoreline into a place of gathering, culture, and reflection.
