This exhibition was the centrepiece the “Year of Turkey in France”. The show took place in the exemplary building of Grand Palais and presented 8000 years of Istanbul’s history, focusing on the role of the city of linking Europe and Asia, a port for two continents.
Curated by Dr. Nazan Ölcer, more than 500 artefacts were displayed, from Neolithic era to the Ottoman Empire. Great scenography atmosphere that transformed the hall into a theatre of Istanbul’s history; its Byzantine walls surrounded the space. One of the highlights, an audiovisual dome-installation, projected twenty of the most beautiful decorated domes of Byzantine churches and Ottoman mosques.
